The digital age is here and the world will never be the same again. 3.4 billion people connected to the World Wide Web and growing by the day.
The sheer numbers are just staggering and that is just the main reason why businesses need a website. The internet is here to stay and if you are not in it, you are literally nowhere
The mobile phone is the another device that has also changed the way we live and its referred to as the most powerful and influential gadget of the 21st century.
Currently, more people use smartphones to surf the web than computers
People who live even in the most remote corners of the earth (like the north pole) can connect with anyone at any time with the rest of the world. This used to be the stuff of science fiction not so long ago.
Surprisingly, many businesses still operate without a website and especially small businesses. Many people tend to imagine that setting up a website is a complicated affair. Nothing can be further from the truth.
The days when websites were built by writing complex coding are long gone. This website is built in WordPress. It may surprise you but took me a relatively short time to learn how to do this
So, as they say, to become great, you have to be part of something that is greater than you and here are some of the reasons why you need a website pronto.
Advertising is a form of communication, be it visual, print or word of mouth.A website has the capacity to provide all three. When you express yourself and tell people who you are and what you do, people begin to build trust.
A lot of people now will search the internet for a business’s opening times and services offered before driving to the physical location. It’s very frustrating to keep seeing that closed sign on the door whenever you go to the shop.
I am sure you might have asked a friend about something nice they bought. They probably tell that they walked into this shop or a friend recommended buying from shop X.A business that offers great service will build its customer base when people say nice things about it. Most websites have a comment section where customers can leave comments about their experiences.
This is powerful in that comments are always there and people tend to trust other people’s opinions.
Low cost of advertising.
A website is the most cost-effective way of getting your word out there. Traditional ways of advertising like TV and print are still very effective but expensive. With the internet, you have 24-7 exposure to the rest of the world for a fraction of what it would cost. The biggest cost is probably the services of a web designer which could go from a few 00’s of dollars for one off payment, then the recurring fees for hosting and internet access which are minimal.
With the growth of the internet, we have a new way of shopping. A lot of people are opting to buy their products from the comfort of their homes. This has brought down the costs of running a business. I recently bought a bed online for almost half of what it would have cost me if I walked into a shop. The business owner has low overheads since he does not need to hire sales people in his shop and so he is able to lower his prices.
With the growth of social media, internet marketing has taken a new form. You can use forums like Facebook, twitter, and Instagram to reach potential customers by directing them to your site. It’s important to have social media plugins on your site so as to constantly share updates on your business.
Your website should grow with your business. The beauty of that is that every content that you upload on your website will be there for life.It makes it easy to go back and forth reviewing what you have already done and improving on those areas that need to. It also makes it easy for potential customers to dig for information without necessarily having to call you up.
Level playing field.
Small businesses have the potential to compete on the same level as the big boys since the internet has no boundaries.Everyone has an equal shot at success in internet marketing and so you don’t need to worry about getting swallowed up by big businesses because you too have the same tools they used to rise to the top
In fact, you are better off not having one than having a badly designed one.
A website is the online face of your business and if it doesn’t engage your visitors or it’s difficult to navigate then many people will not want to come to your business.
I would recommend you hire someone to design one for you if you can’t do it yourself.
So, as I mentioned earlier building one is no rocket science. Click here if you want to give your business that online presence that it so deserves and take it to the next level. It could be the best business decision you have ever made.
