What is Team National About?
Everybody loves getting discounts on product or service purchases. What if I told you that there was a way that you could not only get a discount on what you spend but earn some extra cash on top.
Sounds exciting, right? If the idea of earning and saving appeals to you then Team National might be the company for you. Or maybe not. Read on and let’s find out.
In a nutshell, Team National is a membership savings company, which means that people join so that they can save money when they purchase products or services from other companies that they have partnered with.
Their story goes back to 1996 when Dick Loerh started a company that would provide savings to consumers. In 2000, Dick hired Angela Loehr Chrysler, his daughter, to assist the team in expanding the company’s savings membership. She was appointed President of Team National in 2006.
Unfortunately, Dick lost a 10-year battle with cancer in May 2008. The family has carried on Dick’s legacy and continues to grow and expand having generated $734.5 million in revenue in 2018. They have also built a large network of independent distributors and earned some impressive awards.
Their Mission Statement goes: We enrich families and businesses by providing vehicles for growth and everyday savings, while unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit with honor, integrity, and character.
Team National also runs the Hope Foundation which is dedicated to inspiring hope and helping communities.
The company has an impressive portfolio. They are registered with the DSA, DSEF, and the US Chamber of Commerce. Not many MLM companies can match that.
Team National has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. They are based out of Davie, Florida.
Team National services.
As I mentioned Team National doesn’t sell products as such. Instead, the main focus is on memberships. The products or services are sourced from third party providers. They are more of a service provider that the latter.
Standard Membership ($795): This is a two-year membership that includes savings for you and your entire household during this period of time.
Premium Membership ($2,195): This is a lifetime membership that covers you, your family and up to five employees if you run a business.
They also offer personal websites for $12/month or $99/year.
Members are able to take advantage of the savings on products and services in the following categories;
- Team National Factory Direct: Mostly includes savings on physical items like home, office and outdoor furniture, mattresses, and building materials, etc. Members can get up to 65% in savings
- Group Buying Power: This allows members to save money on everyday items like cell phone plans, auto care, and home, auto and health insurance.
- Business Services: This is more focussed on members who run their own businesses. The main discount they offer is for payment and payroll processing services. Members also get discounts on legal services, technical support and identity protection among others.
- Rebate Program. Offers individuals the chance to earn cash-back on purchases from various retailers. They have partnered with major companies like Walmart and Booking.com. You a small percentage of the purchase price when you buy through a unique link on those company’s websites.
How does Team National work?
Becoming a member of Team National is free. You don’t need to pay anything to join but there are some hidden costs. For example, there is a $25 deduction, which is taken from your first payout. You also need to purchase an IMD (Internet Marketing Director) Starter Kit, which costs $55.
Basically, there are two main ways one can generate an income with Team National.
- Earn commissions when new members join you.
- Earn commissions when those who join under you and recruit other new members.
That is just how most MLMs work. Number 2 is where the real money lies. If you can build a large team below you, you can expect to start making some good income.
Members earn $50 on selling a standard 2-year membership and $100 on a lifetime membership. In other words, you’re earning $50 for a $795 sale or $100 for a $2,915 sale. That does not seem much given that some MLMs pay way more for recruiting new members.
What is even worse is these commissions are halved when paid through EFT or credit card. You only get paid the full amount if you can accept cash. The commissions will also be paid once you make 2 sales.
Team National uses a binary system compensation plan. What that means is you recruit 2 members and help each of them to build their own teams. The 2 sales you make are placed under you as your left and right legs.
Depending on how active those 2 choose to remain, you will only begin to see one-off payments of between $1000 to $1500 once your organization accumulates 10 points and above.

Can you make money with Team National?
Network marketing is a numbers game. If you can build a large team below you then you can certainly make some good money. I have personally met quite a number of network marketers who were highly successful.
That being said, the harsh reality when it comes to making money with network marketing is that it’s not as easy as a lot of people are lead to believe. People don’t like being sold stuff and most people suck at making sales.
Check out the following Team National income disclosure snippet from 2019.
As you can see, 92.1% of members made between $200 and $7709 per year. It’s not the worst I have seen but still, the majority don’t make much money.
I would say the only great thing about Team National is members get to enjoy the savings. If you can save 10 to 65 % on your purchases, that can add up to some huge savings over a long period of time.
And of course, if you are a recruiting wizard, then there is no reason you can’t make money.
Are You Looking For a Way to Earn Passive Income
Without Having to Recruit?
One thing that really turned me off about the Team National website is that there is such limited information on the products or service. People want to know what they are getting into and what it will cost them. I don’t see why that information should be hidden.
It seems you can only know the truth once you are on board.
I also think it’s too expensive to get started with. $2,915 is no loose change and unless I am going to go on a spending spree to recover my money, it’s not just worth it
Not to mention that for your efforts you only get between 50 to 100 dollars in cash (half of that if through credit card or EFT!) for bringing them a new member. That is daylight robbery.
Is Team National a Scam?
A lot of people are skeptical about joining MLMs due to the recruiting nature of the business. As long as a company has a solid product or service behind it, you cannot brand it a scam.
Scams, particularly pyramid schemes, tend to take money out of your pocket using deceptive means. In most cases, they sell you an endless story of investing your money in nothing to grow your money. We all know that money does not grow on trees.
Team National is not a scam. They have been around for a long time. If they were a scam, they would have been shut down ages ago. I would certainly be cautious investing my money due to the low-income potential.
It strikes me as a company that you pay to save you money. That is what a good accountant does. All in all, I think there is some potential to make money with it for the right candidate.
To most, it’s not a very viable option to grow a business.
I was a former network marketer and aside from being a real pain to everyone I approached to join my business I spent a lot of money and never got to recruit even one person.
I might have approached over 300 people. Some of them were clearly not happy about it.
Recruiting is very intrusive. Most people will feel like you are taking advantage of the relationship you have with them
I had to face the facts. Was I really building a business or was I just helping some top shot make their money?
Truth be told you are not really running a business. The people running the business are the people whose products or services you are selling. They dictate what you sell, price and what you make for it. If you owned the business, you would have a say in that.
The other problem I saw was the cult-like devotion most people had for the business. All that talk about the business being easy and how anyone can do it is nothing but hot air.
The fact is, most people suck at selling.
According to this article on Wikipedia, over 99% of people who join MLM companies lose money. That is a big number.
If you are just joining Team National or thinking of joining ask yourself whether you really stand a chance at success. I hate to burst your bubble but the odds are heavily against you.
Are there better alternatives to Team National?
I would say one of the most effective and long term ways to make money way you can make money selling products or services is through your own website.
You don’t even need to own the products to earn commissions with a website.
Neither do you need to recruit people to your business. People need to come to you. how about you check out how I make money online without having to recruit.
No need to run around chasing after people to join your opportunity. There are billions of people connected on the internet today. You just need to put yourself in front of that audience.
This review is by no means meant to discourage you from joining or staying on with Team National. If you feel you have what it takes then, by all means, go for it. If you don’t, just remember to keep your options open.
