What is Morinda?
There is no shortage of multi-level marketing companies in the health and wellness niche. After all, everyone wants to stay healthy. People dont shy away from investing in products that help them live a healthy lifestyle.
With most MLMs, there is always that unique ingredient that makes them a cut above the rest. In this case, its noni plant, a fruit-bearing tree that can be found across Southeast Asia and Australasia.
It has been used in traditional medicine.
Morinda, formerly Tahitian Noni International is a multi-level marketing company that sells Tahitian Noni juice and other products made from the noni plant through independent consultants.
Kerry Asay is the founder, CEO & President of Morinda, Inc.
Prior to Tahitian Noni, Asay was President and CEO of Nature’s Sunshine, a manufacturer, and marketer of encapsulated natural health supplements.
The company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau They are based out of American Fork, UT.
Morinda productsThe flagship product of Morinda is the noni juice blend sold under the brand name Tahitian Noni. It doesn’t come cheap and goes for $38 a liter. They also have other various products that that fall under the following categories
- Everyday wellness

Morinda says that their products are clinically tested but are no actual test results to back that.

How does Morinda work?
To become a consultant with Morinda you will need to pay an affiliate membership of $35. This is waived when you sign up for their auto-ship program where you will have to spend $120 or so a month on product purchase.
To start making money you will need to buy a $300 for a starter kit.
There are two main ways one can generate an income as a Morinda consultant.
- Earn commissions through retail product sales.
- Earn commissions when those who join under you and recruit other new members.
That is just how most MLMs work. Number 2 is where the real money lies. If you can build a large team below you, you can expect to start making some really good income. There are also bonus rewards that are paid depending on how large your team is.
The basic affiliate commission starts at 20% and goes up as you advance in the levels.
Check out the video below for a more comprehensive breakdown of the compensation plan.
Can you make money with Morinda?
That is the multi-billion dollar question.
To be fair, yes you can but in all honesty, it’s a tough nut to crack. To a large extent, it really comes down to how good you are at closing sales. Some people are good at it, most are not.
This is multi-level marketing, and most people are simply not cut out for it. People don’t like being sold stuff and most people just suck at selling. It’s simply not as easy as a lot of people are led to believe.
I haven’t used any of their products but I have seen many negative reviews about them. My assumption would be the products are great.
There is, of course, that remote possibility of making some money. If you are born for it, go for it.

Without Having to Recruit?
Okay here is where it gets messy.
Most MLM companies sometimes get caught in the frenzy to a point where you have people selling miracle cures to diseases like cancer and diabetes. Morinda has had its share of that.
The year was 1998 when Morinda distributors made unsubstantiated claims in consumer testimonials and other promotional material that its Tahitian Noni juice could treat, cure or prevent numerous diseases, including diabetes, clinical depression, hemorrhoids, and arthritis.
The FTC jumped on board and after investigations and numerous court cases Morinda ended up as just another health supplement. They were also told they can get away with saying it’s bioactive!
Is Morinda a Scam?
I Wouldnt go that far.
A lot of people are skeptical about joining MLMs due to the recruiting nature of the business. As long as a company has a product or service behind it, you cannot brand it a scam.
Scams, particularly pyramid schemes, tend to take money out of your pocket using deceptive means. In most cases, they sell you an endless story of investing your money in nothing to grow your money.
Unfortunately, you have that pyramid scheme structure in most MLMs that is hard to distinguish. Kind of like the hunger games where only the best will thrive.
Most people at the bottom end up losing everything before the top dogs disappear and then reappear with a new scheme.
To most people, this might not be a very viable option to grow a business.
And by most, I mean the majority.
I was a former network marketer and aside from being a real pain to everyone I approached to join my business I spent a lot of money and never got to recruit even one person.
I might have approached over 300 people. Some of them were clearly not happy about it.
I had to face the facts. Was I really building a business or was I just helping someone else make their money?
Truth be told you are not really running a business. The people running the business are the people whose products or services you are selling. They dictate what you sell, price, and what you make for it. If you owned the business, you would have a say in that.
When you look at what it entails to host your friends, drive for appointments, attend meetings, etc you will agree that it doesn’t tally with what you will be making. All that talk about the business is easy and how anyone can do it is nothing but hot air.
The fact is, most people suck at selling.
According to this article on Wikipedia, over 99% of people who join MLM companies lose money. That is a big number. And yet people keep joining MLMs. The prospect of making money is always very tempting especially when people tell you its super easy.
I hate to burst your bubble but the odds are heavily against you.
Are there better alternatives to Morinda?Certainly yes.
I would say one of the most effective and long term ways to make money selling products or services is through your own website.
Best of all you don’t need to recruit. People need to come to you. How about you check out how I make money online without having to recruit.
