What is Barefoot Books?
Instilling a culture of reading among kids is a great way to give them a good headstart in life. I am an ardent reader and I dont think I would be where I am today had I not mauled tons of reading materials when I was a kid.
I have my dad to thank for that because he was very strict when it came to studying.
Barefoot Books is a company that opened up shop in England back in 1993
Founded by Nancy Traversy, the company sells and distributes books targeted to infants toddlers and young children. They also have a YouTube channel and an App called Barefoot World Atlas.
What is interesting about this company is that there is an emphasis on helping the young learn about different cultures from around the world. The public school education system is often limited to this subject and that is why you find adults who can’t tell which country is which on a world map.
On their website, they say that their policy “educate our children to be the caretakers of tomorrow.”
Apparently the books are so popular that they have won numerous awards.
Barefoot Books sells its products through independent distributors called ambassadors using the multi marketing business model.
The company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
They are located out of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Barefoot Books Products
Apart from children’s books Barefoot also offers stickers, CDs, puzzles, and games to its young readers. You can also buy singalong CDs, and world music CDs.
The books are colorful and well-curated and provide children with an insight into other cultures from around the world. They are colorfully designed which helps to entice young children to read them.
Some of the books are also available in other languages like French and Spanish.
Here are some of the categories that you can finf=d on their catalog;
- Diverse and Inclusive Books
- Farming and Green Living
- Feelings and Life Lessons
- Folk and Fairy Tales
- Funny Books
- Learn Through Play
- STEAM Books
- World Cultures
- Yoga and Mindfulness
As you can see, your child is bound to start getting the right knowledge from a young age. The content is these books are not something you can find in most public schools.
How the Barefoot Books opportunity works
To become an ambassador with Barefoot Books is free. All you need to do is set up your account online and you are in. There is a $7.50 fee that you pay monthly for the first three months which gives you access to the Ambassador Business center
To get the business rolling you will need to buy a starter pack which goes for $159. This Kit gives you 19 bestselling books and a full marketing suite of catalogs, brochures, and event signs.
There two main ways one can make money with the Barefoot Books opportunity. One is by earning commissions on retail sales. The other is when you recruit others and help them build their own teams.
Commission on retail sales pays between 25 to 30 percent.
I won’t go into the whole compensation plan because they tend to be very complex. Lots of times it’s hard to make head or tail of what’s going on.
You can peruse the entire plan by reading this Barefoot compensation plan
Pros and cons
Every business opportunity has the bright and dull side to it that an investor has to come to terms with. Let’s check out how the pros and cons of the Barefoot Books business opportunity.
One thing is certain. Barefoot Books certainly offers the young great reading material that gives children a great and diverse knowledge of the world around them.
The books are also reasonably priced when you compare them with what you would buy in any other bookshelf.
I also believe that if you have a passion for educating your children and have the right mindset and skillset in closing sales, this opportunity could work out well for you.
Unfortunately, many people are simply not cut out for this kind of business.
Are You Looking For a Way to Earn Passive Income
Without Having to Recruit?
Growing your network marketing business means going out and finding people who can join you. The methods used in the business model can be quite tedious.
People inherently don’t like being sold stuff. You might have to go through hundreds of contacts and not get a single person to join you.
It is the nature of all MLMs.
Is Barefoot Books a scam.
That is a big no.
A lot of people are skeptical about joining MLMs because they assume that any company that adopts the MLM model of business is a scam.
To put it in perspective, Barefoot Books has been in operation for 17 years at the time of writing this. If it was a scam, it would have been shut down by the authorities ages ago.
Pyramid and Ponzi schemes don’t offer any tangible products. It’s always money shuffling form one person to the next. Such schemes always end up falling apart and not without casualties.
I was involved in network marketing a few years ago.
I might have presented the opportunity to over 300 people.
Not a single person joined my team and that is how I eventually threw in the towel.
When you join most network marketing, the narrative is always the same.
Make a list of all the people you know and follow up on them to see if they would be interested in joining your business.
Not only is it intrusive but it can sometimes jeopardize relationships. Some people might feel that they are being taken advantage of.
What normally happens is once they have gone through their entire phonebook and awkwardly approached a few strangers on the streets they end up fading off. No wonder the failure rate with MLMs is so high.
According to this article on Wikipedia, over 95 percent of distributors make little to no income at all. There is always such a high devotion to the business that most people will only go with what they want to hear.
The whole model of the multi-level marketing business is also shrouded in a lot of misconceptions and controversy. You are not really giving people an opportunity to make money. It’s really more about getting people on board to do all the hard work for you.
I had to face the facts. Was I really building a business or was simply helping some top shot make their money?
If you are just joining Barefoot Books or thinking of joining ask yourself whether you really stand a chance at success. I hate to burst your bubble but the odds are heavily against you.
Building a business without recruiting
Many people who become successful online marketers have probably been through some sort of multi-level marketing.
In the years I have been in the marketing industry I have come appreciate that one of the most effective ways you can make money selling products is by having your own website.
The great thing is that you don’t even need to own the products to earn commissions with a website.
And neither do you need to spend money to own one. This website generates a consistent income without the stress of chasing after people. People come to me. We are living in the age of the internet. That is how people buy products these days.
It takes knowledge to learn how to sell products online and I am quite happy to guide through the process.
Why run around chasing after people to join your opportunity and yet you can reach the billions of people who are connected on the internet today.
If you belong to the majority of people trying desperately to make money recruiting people to their business, how about you check out how I make money online without having to recruit.
MLMs are a waste of time. Some people will tell you not to listen to naysayers like me, but you really need to ask yourself whether you stand a chance. If you feel you have what it takes, I will not discourage you. By all means, go for it. If you have your doubts, keep your options open.
