13 Ways you can Make Money from the Holidays

make moneyHi there! Want to learn some easy ways to make money from the holidays. It’s that time of year again. Every holiday season comes with the mistletoes, eggnog, and the dread of being broke.

Creating extra income is important during the holiday season and It is never too late to pick up some cash earning endeavors. There are multiple money making odd jobs out there that are fast earning and legitimate.

The biggest problem people have is not knowing where to look. Here are eleven different ways you can pad your bank account this holiday season.

  1. Sell old stuff.

The holidays are right around the corner and with that means new stuff coming in, so why not ship some old stuff out? Whether you choose Craigslist, Ebay, or your local Facebook Selling Wall, now is a perfect time to get rid of some clutter.

A vintage rocking chair that has been sitting in the attic could be on someone else’s wishlist this season. Does your daughter have an iPhone that was 3 generations ago that could be sold a “starter” phone for someone else?

Old clothes that have been sitting in your closet for years could be the best gift for someone else. People are always looking for good deals on gently used items as holiday gifts.

  2. Offer holiday cleaning.

Hosting for the holidays can be extremely stressful. Post an ad at your local grocery store bulletin board or the local newspaper offering some seasonal deep cleaning.

Also, since you are a one-time service cleaner and not an actual business, you can charge a little extra, especially doing it during the holidays.

  3. Host a one time holiday babysitting service.

Offering to let parents have a night out during the holidays is a great idea. Make this a one-night event for parents to go shopping (or just sneak away for a while).

The kids will have a blast and the parents will appreciate it a lot! Charging around $15 a child for 10-15 children would offer parents a good rate on a babysitter and put some extra change in your pocket, all in an evening’s work! (You might want to ask for a little help on this one.)

  4. Create a holiday craft shop.

Having craft shop year round can be hard work. However, side craft businesses are more popular during the holidays and a lot easier to manage.

You can piece together crafty Christmas ornaments or make mason jar snowmen. If you’re good with a glue gun or glitter paint, you can easily succeed in this holiday business.

  5. Fill out some surveys.

Believe it or not there are companies out there that will pay you to take surveys for them. Swagbucks is one of the bigger survey sites out there that is 100% legitimate.

They will pay you a buck or two for 10-15 minute surveys, and they have thousands of surveys to choose from. They even pay you to watch videos!

  6. Become an online tutor.

Online tutoring is in high demand, especially over the holidays when students are on Christmas break from school. If you have the credentials and the patience, becoming a tutor might be right for you.

Tutors can get paid between 10-14 dollars for every hour they spend with a student.

  7. Pet-sit.

Lots of families travel during the holidays and kennels can get expensive. Volunteering to watch multiple families fur babies can earn a lot of extra money fast.

  8. Become a seasonal customer service rep

Big names like Groupon, HSN and 1800Flowers are always looking for at home seasonal customer service representatives during the holidays to help lighten the workload for their everyday employees.

All you need is the internet and a reliable headset and you are good to go. The pay is anywhere between $9-15 an hour and all you have to do is enter sales and answer some questions during the holiday shopping season.

  9. Be a personal shopper.

If you can shop until you drop then becoming a personal shopper might be right for you. Many folks hate the chaos that holiday shopping entails.

Post ads saying you will do someone’s Christmas shopping for them! You might be surprised how many offers you receive.

  10. Become an Uber driver.

Uber is always looking for more drivers and it pays pretty decent. If you know your city well you can turn your free time into some extra cash and help keep the streets safe by being a designated driver.

  11. Do odd jobs.

This could be anything from hanging neighbours’ Christmas lights, shoveling snow, to being Santa at a nursing home, or wrapping presents at $2 a gift. Earn some extra cash while spreading holiday cheer!

  12. Get a part-time job.

This may be a bit traditional, but many retail stores hire seasonal workers during the holidays to help with the increased traffic of crazy shoppers. It looks good on a resume and you can get awesome discounted retail prices.

  13. Become a secret shopper.

If you love spending other people’s money, then being a secret shopper is for you. These people are hired by companies to measure the quality of a service.By doing this job you get to stay at hotels and eat out at some of the best restaurants, all while getting paid

The holiday season can truly be the most wonderful time of the year, but it is a lot easier to love it with some extra cash flowing around. It is also a time of spending on gifts and travels. If you are strapped for cash any of ideas on this list can help pave the way for an easier holiday season.

  1. This is a great article, I have never thought about doing things like this to make extra money during the holidays. I’ve never heard of Swagbucks before but if they will pay me to take surveys then I will definitely do it. I’ve never heard the term “Secret Shopper” before but this seems very enticing, it amazes me that there are companies out there that actually pay people to do this.

    • Hi WMP and tyhanks for your comment. Swagbucks has a low income potential but you can do it if you have spare time. They will even pay you just to watch videos. If you can make some side money during the holidays, why not. Cheers
