Are You Looking For a Way to Earn Passive Income Online?

Right out of the gate I can tell you Arbonne is not a scam. This a legit business that has been in operation since 1975. For a business to have lasted that long just goes to show that its legitimate.

Being legit is one thing. Making with the business is a completely different ball game. In fact, what you probably need to understand is that in this game, the odds are heavily against you. We shall soon find out why.

Arbonne was the brainchild of Tyler Mills and chemist Pierre Bottiglieri. Since its inception the company has grown in leaps and bounds and now has distribution centers in Canada United Kingdom, Australia, Poland, New Zealand and California.

The company’s headquarters is located in Irvine, California.

Th hallmark of the Arbonne business is distribution of skin care products. They are however involved in other products like bath & body products, hair products, sun protection, makeup and even nutrition products. The products are distributed by independent consultants through a multi-level marketing system

Things have not always been so rosy for Arbonne. In 2009, they filed for bankruptcy in order to reduce company debts. They did bounce back and in February of 2018 Arbonne and Nature’s Gate (sister company) were acquired by Groupe Rocher.

They do enjoy an A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.

The Arbonne business claim to fame is that all their products are pure, safe and beneficial. I have reviewed similar companies like Usana, Amway and Mary Kay. They all say the same thing.

All products are made from organic material or compounds that occur naturally. Now, I haven’t used any of their products but according to this article by Meghan Telpner you may want to counter check the facts on the products safety.

I just don’t think it’s possible to package a product from plant to bottle without adding some form of preservative.

Aside from that, most people agree that they have great products even though they can be quite pricey.

How it works

To become an Arbonne distributor, you will need to fork out $79 dollars plus a $30 annual renewal fee. As distributor you will receive anywhere from 35 to 50% discount on purchases. You will also need to maintain a certain amount of purchases to remain a distributor.

There are 4 ways in which you can make money with Arbonne.

  1. Profits on the sales of all the products you purchase as an Independent Consultant, Preferred Client Commissions purchases that are made by other Preferred Clients. These figures are calculated at 15% SRP of the total order.
  2. Overrides paid on the volume of product sales and the sales volume of all Independent Consultant teammates.
  3. Mercedes-Benz Cash Bonus Program which is only available at the Vice President or higher levels. This program is based on product sales volume and the sales volume of all Arbonne Independent Consultants that are on your team.
  4. Any bonuses are paid based on sales volume of you and all other teammates.

Pros and Cons

Many people agree, that they have great products. I also believe it’s possible to make money. That is the case with all MLMs. However, the success rate is meagre. Less than 1% of all consultants make any form of decent income.

You could recruit 100 people within your organisation but if those people are not making any purchases, you will not be making any money. You will need to go a recruiting overdrive and hope that there is at least one person who will be able to help grow your business.

I think the biggest downside to becoming an Arbonne consultant or any other MLM distributor is that to a large extent friends and family become business transactions. I have been invited to a few “parties” where I was not even told what it, only for me to be presented with an opportunity of a lifetime.

I also don’t agree, that their products are unique. Mary Kay, Avon, Amway or say the same thing about their products. In fact you can get really great products from your local drug store that are just as good, for a fraction of the price.

Of course anyone who decides to join a business like this is not there for the products. People join MLMs because they are sold the lie that they will make money. There is a very cult like devotion in MLMs

The lie of network marketing

I was involved in network marketing for some time and I can tell you it doesnt work for the majority of the people. If you have to drive to parties, attend meetings buy the products not to mention the extra hours you have to put in everyday just to grow your business, you will agree with me you are probably losing money.

People fail in this form of business because it is by no means easy as they are led to believe. According to The Balance Small Business, less than 1% of all people who join multi-level marketing businesses succeed.

Mary Kay once described the business as filling your bathtub with the sinkhole open. Most people will be gone once they realize just how difficult the business is. The fall out rate is massive.

You may be asking, so how come these companies seem to turn out such huge profits? Good question.

Most of them have very low overheads. The products move.  They don’t need to advertise. That is why they give you a cut from sales and recruiting. At the very bottom of it, you will be doing all the donkey work for them.

You are not running a business. The guy running a business is the CEO of the company whose products you are distributing. You are just a salesman. No one likes that annoying Facebook friend who is always trying to push you to buy some product.

The whole model of the multi-level marketing business is also shrouded in a lot of  controversy. I can understand why. You are not really giving people an opportunity to make money. It’s more like reaping the benefits out of their hard work.

I think that is a very sleazy way of doing business. If you are just joining the Arbonne business, just remember that you are in for the ride of your life.

Overall opinion

Thumbs upI would say Arbonne is an okay company. Certainly not great.

Arbonne is no different from other MLM companies. There thousands of this sort of companies in selling all sorts of products. They also sell false hope.

As I mentioned earlier, you are more likely to lose money than make it.

That being said, Arbonne is not a pyramid scheme like some people would claim. With pyramid schemes, the last guy always emerges on the other end with nothing. You still end up with some overpriced products which is better than ending with zero.

Opinion is always divided as to whether multi level marketing is a scam or not. I suppose it all comes down to who is making money and who is not. Most people who don’t make it will be crying foul while those who succeed will be accusing the losers of lacking the patience to grow the business.

I have been involved in network marketing before and I know how the game plays out. Network marketing by its very nature is a legit way of doing business and people succeed big time in it. In fact, there are millionaires in the industry.

I left the business because it was all about recruiting. There are also some very deceptive tactics like inviting people for a meeting, party or dinner without telling them what it’s all about, and then springing the opportunity on them. That is the easiest way to lose friends.

Seldom do people even talk about the products. That’s because no one makes money just by selling products. Are you ready to start dragging your friends, colleagues and relatives to those hyped up meetings.

Can you build a business without recruiting

Many people who become successful online marketers might have been through some sort of multi level marketing. In the years I have been in the  marketing industry I have come to appreciate the fact that the only way you can make money selling products is by having your own website.

Even with network marketing, it’s easier to find real leads to your opportunity with a website. It beats hitting on strangers. This is because when people do a Google search they already know what they are looking for. That is what we call a targeted audience. I am sure that is how you ended up on this post.

You don’t even need to own the products to earn commissions with a website.  And neither do you need to spend money to own one. This website generates me a consistent income without having to chase after people. People come to me.

Why hang around shopping malls pouncing on people trying to get them to join your opportunity and yet you can reach the billions of people who are connected on the internet today.

If you belong to the 99% plus number of the people trying desperately to make money recruiting people to their business, how about you check out how I make money online without having to recruit.

MLMs are a waste of time. Some people will tell you not to listen to naysayers like me, but you really need to ask yourself whether you stand a chance.

Many thanks for reading my review. If you have a question or a comment on the Arbonne business opportunity, please leave it below. I would love to hear from you.
