An In-depth Look at Some of the Best SEO packages for a Small Business

SEO packages for a small business-traffice statsSearch Engine Optimization (SEO) is a widely used practice in website design, capable of making you more visible on search engines. This is a great thing for small companies since most cannot afford to invest huge amounts of money in advertisement.

However, many entrepreneurs think SEO as rocket science and so they avoid it altogether which in this day and age is totally not advisable. Once you understand the basics, SEO is extremely simple to use, and you will come to fall in love with it.

Let me break down  SEO for you, how to use it and how it can improve your business’ visibility on search engines

The fact is SEO is just metrics that search engines use to locate your website and once you get the hang of it, it’s all pretty straightforward. Here are some of the basics that you need to grasp from the beginning.

  • Organic traffic

The biggest advantage of SEO is that it ensures a totally free promotion for your company. Despite other forms of advertising, organic traffic is achieved through some relevant keywords, a good organization of the content and a descriptive title.

When Google or other search engine index your web page, these features will be essential, for boosting you up in the SERP (search engine results page). This way, you will have a good advantage over your competition.

When somebody searches for a product or service from your range of activity, your company will have priority in the search results list. Specialized SEO companies use a variety of ‘good SEO practices’ to improve their clients’ visibility online.

If you want better results, you should consider working with one. It will cost you some money, or you can learn how to do it yourself which is what I would recommend.but it will be absolutely worth it

Search engines follow a common pattern, which allows them to structure and display the results for their users. That’s where keywords come into play.

Keywords are a grouping of words usually written within your website source code that helps search engines locate your posts or pages. When you choose the right keywords, you are informing Google that you have what people are searching for.

Keywords should be sprinkled moderately (preferably once) across your content. In fact, you should not worry so much about it if you cant fit it in your content. Google will immediately detect any keywords overuse or any unnatural content and you will be penalized. So keep it simple. Properly structure your content, make it engaging.

  • The competition

Just because you’re using good SEO, doesn’t mean that you’re the only one doing it. Your competitors are probably doing the same too.

If you play it smart, you could spy a little on them, and see what keywords they are using. For that, you can use a very popular program, called Ahrefs. This tool will allow you to see the main keywords that your competitors are using and understand what brings them traffic.

What’s good for the competition should be good for you too, right? Use those popular keywords on your content and you will soon notice an increased traffic. And don’t worry about the morality of this practice. They probably did the same thing.

Another way is to do a simple keyword research by using a program like Jaaxy. This, in my opinion, is a more effective way of finding out what keywords your competitors are using.

The only 2 metrics that you really need to worry about is average monthly searches and competing pages for the same keyword.

A good rule of thumb is to go with what I call the +100/-100 rule.
+100 means there are at least over a hundred monthly searches on that keyword. -100 means that there are less than 100 competing pages on that keyword. The closer to zero the better. Using this post as an example, the keyword I chose was SEO packages for a small business

From the above example out of the jaaxy keyword research, you can see that that ‘SEO packages for a small business’ receives an average of 249 monthly searches and there are only 6 competing pages for the same. No wonder you found this page! Go here to learn more about keywords

  • Titles and meta title

Many SEO companies consider the title is to be more important than keywords when it comes to search optimization. I have to agree with them. The title tells the reader what you’re about, and its what convinces them to enter your page.

Your business might meet all the proper SEO criteria and is visible in search engines, but if you don’t entice your clients with a captivating title they will move to the next result.

That’s why, your title needs to be descriptive, clear, engaging and of course, unique. The title will also help your search results displaying and boost you up to the top.

When choosing a title do a search of your product or service on Google. Observe the competition and see how many companies are already using it. Don’t use the same title everyone else using but instead come up with something original.

Meta titles are the little snippet info that is displayed at the bottom of the title. It gives the customer a glimpse of what to expect if they decide to click on the page. It’s almost like a movie trailer. Am sure you may have a watched a movie because the trailer looked pretty good.

  • Meta tags.

I thought it might be a good idea to mention this because there is a lot of misinformation on meta tags. The fact is they are completely useless. Years ago they had some SEO value but not anymore. Just don’t bother with them.

What SEO package should you use?

If SEO seems too complicated or you want a professional to handle it, you should consider looking for SEO companies. Thankfully, SEO service providers are more available now than they were 5 years ago, and you have plenty of companies to choose from.

A simple google search of SEO providers within your locality will give you a list of companies and individuals who can get the job done for you. Be sure that they can provide a portfolio of jobs they have done in the past by allowing you to randomly search for them. If search results come up on SERPs, then they are good to go.

The last thing you want to do is pay some dude then he takes off and leaves you high and dry.

Since you’re running a small company, you won’t need a huge package, because your content and your area of activity are limited. Considering that every company is different from another, you will need a customized package, that will fit your particular needs.

The best way to find out what you need is with an SEO audit. This procedure will help you understand what SEO practices work or don’t work for your company and teach you how to implement them. After the audit, an expert will provide you a recommendation, telling you what package to choose.

An SEO package for a small business is not very pricey, and you can get one for between $600 to $1000. If you want a package with extra services, the price might go up.

However, a standard package will get you services like content marketing, on page SEO, off page SEO, monthly reporting, keyword research or conversion optimization. Basically everything you need for a proper and an effective SEO campaign.

You also have the peace of mind knowing that a professional is handling it for you.

  1. When it comes to meta tags and meta descriptions, should the description be a snippet of a keyword within your content that you are trying to target in SEO search? I was just putting up descriptions of what they can expect the content to be about?

    Thanks for your help,

    • You don’t need to target your keyword within your meta description. There is a lot of debate on this topic but I as I mentioned there is no SEO value to it. Some people prefer to leave it blank and use the default. Personally, I use my keyword in the meta description if it makes sense.
