Hi there and welcome to my AmeriPlan review.
I believe it’s good to dig in and find out all there is to know before making a financial investment in any of the numerous business opportunities out there that promise to make you rich and famous.
The last thing you want is to spend money and get nothing in return. Trust me, that happens a lot more than you can ever imagine.
So just what is AmeriPlan all about? Is it a scam or legit? Can you make some serious money with this business? Well, let’s find out, shall we
- Company Name: AmeriPlan
- Website: ameriplan.com
- Owners: Dennis and Daniel Bloom
- Cost: Starting at $49 per month
- Rating: 6/10
When it comes to the world of multi level marketing, it appears that anything can be marketed and sold through that model of business. AmeriPlan is one such company. While many MLMs are in the health and wellness products industry, AmeriPlan is actually geared towards providing discounted health services and also enabling you to make some money on the side too.
Just to be clear, the company insists that they don’t provide medical health insurance policies or prescription drug plans.
Apparently, what they have done is paired themselves with healthcare providers who have agreed to offer their services prices at discounted prices and that’s how you get your discount as a member. Pretty cool, huh.
AmeriPlan opened its doors in 1992. Dennis and Daniel Bloom, two twin brothers came up with the idea of providing a discounted fee-for-service dental program but as the company grew they diversified into other medical health plans.
The company enjoys an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Given the long time they have been in business proves they are here for the long haul.
AmeriPlan provides a variety of service to the general public. As a member you get to enjoy discounts in the following healthcare services;
- Hospital Advocacy
Discounts can vary depending on what service seeking. Generally, you will expect discounts ranging between 15 to 50% on most servicers, but some services like teeth cleaning and X-ray can have discounts of up to 80% which is pretty cool.
As far as diversification is concerned, they have gone a step further.

How it works
To become a member of the AmeriPlan business or benefit consultant (BC) as they call it, you will need to pay $49 per month. For what you are entitled to, it seems like a very good deal.
You can see how people with certain ailments can benefit from this.
If you want to enjoy more benefits and make more money you can always upgrade to other plans which surprisingly are not health related.
AmeriPlan Platinum Plus: You get discounts on things like automotive, dining out, shopping etc. The plan costs $50 a month.
AmeriPlan Total Premium: Same as AmeriPlan Platinum Plus with a few additional features like ID theft protection. That will cost you $75 a month.
AmeriPlan Freedom Pass: You get everything included in the AmeriPlan Total Premium plus additional savings on hotels, rentals , condos, resorts, groceries etc.
This plan will cost you a cool $150 per month.
So how do you make money?
There are only 2 ways to earn. You can make money by reselling their healthcare packages or by recruiting people to become Benefit Consultants like yourself.
Option number two is what I want you to pay attention to. You will earn up to 40% commissions on the recruits that you are able to get through the door. You will also earn commissions on those who join the business under those who you have recruited.
However commissions are only paid on the levels that you have purchased. The higher the premium the higher the commission.
I am not going to go into the nitty gritty of the compensation plan because like most MLMs, they can be nerve wrecking.

Pros and Cons
The AmePlan business offers good commissions on their packagers. 40% is a lot higher than what most typical MLMs pay. I also think as a member you stand to greatly benefit should an unfortunate illness befall you. A lot of people will experience dental problems in their lives.
Dental treatment does not come cheap, so with an 80% savings on treatment you have yourself a pretty good deal.
The problem is, might go years paying for these packages and you never have to take advantage of them. It might end up being cheaper to take medical insurance.
A lot of people involved in multi level marketing will get easily upset if you tell them that they are really not running a business, but reselling products for big companies.
All MLMs operate pretty much on the same basis. It’s about building a team to make money from those who join under you. If you possess the gift of the gab and are able to convince people to join you, then this could work out pretty well for you.
Unfortunately many people are not good at it. You might even build a team but if those people are not active in the business you will not make money.
The truth of the matter is you are more likely to lose money than make it.
The MLM narrative.
I’ve been there, done that. I have been involved in two MLMs in my life. It doesn’t work for the majority. And by majority I mean almost 99% of distributors make little to no income.
Products move because many of these companies demand that you maintain a certain amount of sales in order to qualify for commissions.
Before you say that I did not have the patience to build a business, I approached close to 200 people and did not make a single sale. Can you imagine if 200 people came to your store and no one bought a single item?
The numbers simply did not add up and that is why I left.
Multi level marketing is as dodgy as hell.
According to The Balance Small Business, less than 1% of all people who join multi-level marketing businesses succeed.
Mary Kay once described the business as filling your bathtub with the sinkhole open. Most people will be gone once they realize just how difficult the business is. The fall out rate is massive.
You are not really running a business. The people running the business are the people whose products you are selling. At the end of it you’re nothing more than just a salesperson.
I would say AmeriPlan seems like an okay company. Not out of this world but okay.
It’s a great business for those who have the energy for recruiting.
AmeriPlan is not a pyramid scheme like some people would claim. With pyramid schemes, the last guy always emerges on the other end with nothing. In this case you can still benefit from the health discounts.
Opinion is always divided as to whether this sort of businesses are scams or not. I suppose it all comes down to who is making money and who is not. Most people who don’t make it will be crying foul while those who succeed will be accusing the losers of lacking the patience to grow the business.
There are however so many half truths that new recruits are exposed to that it makes it hard for one to have full confidence in the business. A common line that is always used is that it is easy to get into since you only need to buy a starter pack and you are in business.
Problem is, your costs will soon add up pretty fast once you start buying different packages just to stay in the business.
Perhaps the biggest red flag to MLMs is recruiting. Seldom do people even talk about the products. That’s because no one makes money by just selling products. Are you ready to start hitting on your friends, colleagues and relatives in effort to convince them to buy your products?
Can you build a business without recruiting
In the years I have been in the marketing industry I have come to learn that the only way you can make money selling products is by having your own website.
In fact you don’t even need to own the products to earn commissions with a website. And neither do you need to spend money to own one.
Why run around chasing after people to join your opportunity and yet you can reach the billions of people who are connected on the internet today.
If you belong to the 99% of the people trying desperately to make money recruiting people to their business, how about you check out how I make money online without having to recruit.
MLMs are a waste of time. You really need to ask yourself whether you stand a chance to make money. If you feel you have what it takes then by all means go for it.
