American Income Life Insurance Products

American Life Insurance sells policies to associations, particularly credit and labor unions.  They also sell policies to churches, schools, and youth groups.

Here is a list of some of their policies;

  • Term life insurance: cover recipients for a limited period of time
  • Accident and Supplemental Health Insurance: Covers its members against accidents and illnesses.
  • Whole life insurance: Permanent policy that offers lifelong protection and never expires
  • Final expense plan: Covers the insured’s funeral expenses.
  • Terminal Illness Rider: individuals diagnosed with terminal illness if their life expectancy is within a year of diagnosis.
  • Accident Protection: Pays cash benefits when the insured is killed or injured accidentally.

How American Income Life Insurance Works

To become an agent with American Life Insurance requires you to pay a joining fee of $490.

You will also need to pay government fees that give you the certification to sell insurance in your state.

You will then get invited to job interviews, signing the required papers, going on training, and all the other processes that are required for a normal job.

It’s worth noting that this is really not a normal job with a salary capped to it.  Your job entails selling American Life Insurance Policies to other people. You get to also earn residual commissions when other members join the company as agents through your efforts.

That technically makes it a multi-level marketing company.

There is no compensation plan that is available online on what one earns when they recruit others to join the company.

For every sale you make you get to earn a 50% commission. You will only get paid a 65% commission on the sale you make while 35% will be withheld for 6 months.

Pros and Cons

All businesses have the good and bad side to them. Let’s check out the pros and cons of American Income Life insurance.

Pros

American Income Life Insurance pays a 50% commission on every sale that you make. That is a really good commission and if you have the skill and mindset to close sales, this could work out really well for you.

There are many people out there who would like to get insurance cover because nobody knows when things could go wrong. There is great potential for growth but you have to be cut out for it in order to succeed.

The longevity of this company inspires a lot of confidence in terms of its financial strength. Save for a few complaints regarding claim processing most people have had a smooth ride when it came to getting there claims processed

Without Having to Recruit?

Cons

American Life insurance has limited permanent products. For instance, they don’t offer car insurance which is something most major insurers offer.

There is also a lack of transparency in the joining process. A lot of people who become agents are given the impression that they are applying for a job which is not the case. The job entails you becoming a commission agent where you are paid for the results you produce.

This is a bait and switch method of marketing which in my opinion is ethically wrong.

When applying for a job you dont need to pay money upfront to get hired.

There are also a lot of complaints online pertaining to the short support window that the company offers. A business of this magnitude should have a customer service team that is on standby 24/7.

A good insurance salesperson should be able to sell you a policy without pushing you to a corner. Many people have complained about the pushy sales approach that most agents use to sell their policies.

Is American Income Life Insurance a Scam?

Not even close. American Life Insurance has been around for 76 years old at the time of writing this article. If they were a scam they would have been shut down by the authorities ages ago.

A good rule of thumb to observe when joining a multi-level marketing company is the product. Pyramid and Ponzi schemes offer nothing but hot air. It always comes down to investing money with a promise of huge returns. Money does not grow on trees and so if you are not moving a product then you are scamming people.

Wrap up

Having an insurance cover is always a smart idea. You never know when things could go wrong.

A lot of people will argue that American Income Insurance is not an MLM. As long as you are recruiting people and getting paid for those who come under you, then this is an MLM. It is no different from AmeriPlan

The whole model of the multi-level marketing business is shrouded in a lot of misconceptions and controversy. You are not really giving people an opportunity to make money. It’s really more about getting people on board to do all the hard work for you.

I was a former network marketer and aside from being a real pain to everyone I approached to join my business I spent a lot of money and never got to recruit even one person. I might have approached over 300 people. Some of them were clearly not impressed.

My upline kept pushing me to go all out and hit on as many people as I can with the opportunity. You never know who is looking for an opportunity to make money, do you? By the time I threw in the towel, I was worn out and frustrated.

I also hated the chanting in meetings and cult-like devotion most members had to the business. It felt like hero worship.

I had to face the facts. Was I really building a business or was I simply helping some top shot make their money?

According to this article on Wikipedia, over 95 percent of distributors make little to no income at all.

If you are just joining American Income Insurance or thinking of joining ask yourself whether you really stand a chance at success. I hate to burst your bubble but the odds are heavily against you.

Are there alternatives to American Income Life Insurance

Many people who become successful online marketers have probably been through some sort of multi-level marketing.

In the years I have been in the marketing industry I have come appreciate that one of the most effective ways you can make money selling products is by having your own website.

The great thing is that you don’t even need to own the products to earn commissions with a website.

It takes knowledge to learn how to sell products online and I am quite happy to guide through the process.

Why run around chasing after people to join your opportunity and yet you can reach the billions of people who are connected on the internet today.

MLMs are a waste of time. Some people will tell you not to listen to naysayers like me, but you really need to ask yourself whether you stand a chance. If you feel you have what it takes, I will not discourage you. By all means, go for it. If you have your doubts, keep your options open.
